I always kind of see Red as a witch, honestly. Sea’s a- well, sea’s a Sea Witch. Sear familiar is an octopus, and while sea is associated with a fox of fire (that sea can summon using a rabbit skull) sea burns brightly with cold fire that feels more like water than flame. Plus sea will totally lure you to your death, like a siren. You go to sear for tattoos of protection, and for words of wisdom….. if sea doesn’t feel like roughing you up a bit, first.
Hhhhhhhholy fuck, was this a tiring, but fun, experiment. I think I’ll be trying more pieces like this in the future. I used the tutorial I reblogged earlier as a reference for this. Full size is here.
Aaaand this piece is done! A redo of an earlier piece I did long ago. Highly experimental and I like what I did with the lines, I’m going to keep it. For a larger version, click here.
All the paintings in the background were done by Wayne Thiebaud, who was an artist well known for his brightly colored depictions of pastries and other mundane things. Donny has a lot of Thiebaud’s work in his shop for atmosphere, because he really likes the stark-whimsical fusion it has.
This is a redo of an earlier version of Steven’s affirmation crest dingus. While I liked that one, I didn’t feel it fit in with the others in the series. See the full size here.
Steven has had people tell him that they “don’t notice” his stutter, or that they “don’t see” his scars, or (the fastest way to get him to hate you) that they “don’t think of him as black.” At the very least, it’s a good way to get him to ignore you; he’s gotten into fights over these kinds of statements being worded more crassly. He figures that if you have to pick and choose what you see of him, you’re not seeing him at all.
I am legitimately so proud of how this one came out. It captures Walter perfectly, I think. People have asked me before what pronouns to use for Walter, and since I answered that question, I’ve learned more about her and need to change my answer: Walter likes both “he/him/his” and “she/her/hers.” He usually skews more towards he/him pronouns, just for ease of use and because he’s used to them, but there are definitely days or even weeks when Walter will ask for she/her to be used for her. Whatever you address her with, he’ll respond.
Getting back on my horse with these crest poster things!! This one is, of course, Afra, and major thanks to ruffiticus for assisting me with it! Afra is a nonverbal autistic girl who instead uses sign language, and Ruffy is as well, so illud gave me some great pointers with this.
Heckin’ large version here! And reminder, this and the others in this series will eventually be available as shirts and prints~
